Cable Bullet tensioning posts are high-quality, surface-mount posts that are pre-drilled and tapped to accept Cable Bullet tensioners. Heavy-duty 1/4-inch thick aluminum walls, super-durable flat black powder-coating, and machined stainless steel universal tops give these posts a custom, premium look and feel that stands out.
Combine Cable Bullet tensioning posts with ultra-slim structural intermediate posts and cable spacer bars for a modern, unobstructed view from your deck, balcony, or stairway.
Every Cable Bullet post includes the same stainless steel universal top that can be fastened to wood or metal top rail and is designed to pivot for straight or sloping runs. Each post also includes a base cover plate and the same set screw leveling mechanism. Cable Bullet tensioners are sold separately. Mounting screws for the base and top rail are not included and will vary by project.
Posts are available in 36 and 42-inch heights. 36-inch posts are designed for 11 cable runs, 42-inch posts for 13 cable runs. All tensioner holes are pre-drilled and tapped every 3 inches on center and will accept Cable Bullet tensioners.
Corner posts have two sets of holes on perpendicular sides to each other (90 degrees). 2-way posts have holes on parallel sides. Ends posts are pre-drilled and tapped on one side only.
All post holes are set every 3 inches on center.
The structure supporting your posts must be able to handle the transferred loads of the railing system (+150 lbs of tension per cable). It is the installer’s responsibility to make certain that the structure your posts are fastened to is capable of supporting the applied loads.
Handrails are also a structural component of cable railing and must be able to resist both the compression load of the tensioned cable and perpendicular guardrail loads.

When designing your railing layout, follow these guidelines.
Once your post locations have been identified, mark and drill pilot holes for the post-mounting lag screws. Angle each post according to your cable runs before securing them. Before tightening the lag screws, plumb each post using the leveling set screws at the base. Once your posts are secured, set the base cover plate.
Use the ¼” Spanner Nut Bit to loosen the two threaded pins on either side of the stainless steel post top. Once your top rail is set, mark and drill pilot holes for each top mount. Secure the top rail, then tighten the threaded pins.
Note: To ease the installation of the top rail you may detach the u-shaped top-mounting bracket from the post top completely by removing both threaded pins. Detaching and installing the top-mounting bracket is especially helpful when installing top rail on sloping runs, or where spacing is tight.
Your posts are now ready for cable infill. Complete this process using the Cable Bullet Metal Post Installation Instructions.
