Reviews

Exterior deck diy

"I am very impressed with the quality of the materials that cable bullet provided me for my outside deck project. . The additional tools that I additionally purchased made Installation much easier. The first few runs, I had difficulty cutting the cable to the correct length, mostly, I cut it too short. But once I found my Mojo, the entire rest of the project went very swiftly, and was exactly what I anticipated it looking like once everything was installed. . Very pleased with cable bullet."

"Had a little bit of a problem, installing the stainless bullets with the set screw that was seemed like it was a little stripped or something"

Super easy install

"Great instructions and really simple and smart installation."

Cable size

"The most difficult part was the cutting of the cable as I only needed two 8 foot pieces from a 50ft roll. Suggestion: Please sell the cable in smaller lengths maybe a 25ft or less. Smaller sizes would be better for repairing sections and doing smaller jobs or just adding ons to existing railings."

Zero waste

"I followed the instructions that came along with the parts, and everything went like clockwork. I was glad that I had bought the cable cutters, as having a very sharp tool is absolutely necessary. Any stray cable filaments would have really boogered up the process, especially when making the last cut to fit in the end post. All in all it was a fairly straightforward process. And there was ZERO cable waste. ZERO!"

Q&A

Will 1/8" cable work in your system. I'm wanting black cable. But I like your system. Does not look like you have black cable
Hi Kevin! Our system is designed to work specifically with 5/32" cable, so unfortunately, 1/8" cable will not secure properly. And you are correct—we do not currently offer black cable, but keep checking back! We are always looking to expand our product lines!
I need (8) 36 feet cables for wood posts Marine grade SS. To get the best roll size do I purchase (1) 250 ft roll and (1) 50 ft roll? Plus do I purchase (8) tension kits? I will need (8) end caps too, right?
Hi Jay! I'm going to have a member of our support department reach out to help you create your materials list. You should be getting an email from Mick shortly. Thank you for choosing Cable Bullet!
Looking for black cable and parts. Do you have them for wood posts.
Hi Edward! We do not currently offer black cable or fittings for any of our systems. It is something we are looking into, but we want to make sure the product that we source/manufacture meets our quality standards. Sorry to disappoint you—hopefully we will be offering those products sometime in the future.
One more question on the cable. We will be installing the cable on a waterfront deck 30 feet from a saltwater bay. Corrosion is always an issue here. Should we consider using 316L cable and does either the 1x19 or 7x7 cable tend to do better in extreme conditions?
Kevin, that's good to know! What type of posts are you planning on using? Both the 1x19 and 7x7 have corrosion-resistant properties, although the 1x19 is a little easier to clean if rust does appear because its smoother. You'll want to clean your stainless railing more often because you're near saltwater (probably every 3-6 months).
I have a project that includes some long runs of cable along a deck and two stair runs. I understand that the 1x19 cable is more rigid and stretches less when tensioned. I also understand that the 7x7 bends better in the fittings when used on a stair run. The longest straight run I have along the deck is 34 feet. Is it possible to use 1x19 cable on the straight deck runs and 7x7 on the stair runs? Can I do a single run of cable 34 feet long? I understand that the two cables have a different appearance with the 1x19 being shinier than the 7x7. Would it look odd to have a different type of cable on the stairs? Multiple questions here, sorry.
Hey Kevin - great questions! You're correct about the different cable braids. When using the [1x19](https://cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0968/0506/products/SSC1-5-32-1X19_1_1000x1000_fae0fd2e-0a31-4bf9-a3f4-a9111595f268_2048x.jpg?v=1639172267) on straight runs, we typically recommend a 30 foot max length between tensioner kits. You might be okay at 34 feet, but you could have trouble getting the cable to the proper tension. Something to be aware of, especially if your railing is getting inspected. As far as the appearance, the 2 types of cable look noticeably different, so we usually encourage customers to stick with one or the other. You can choose to use both types, but it may look odd especially at the post with 1x19 on one side and 7x7 on the other. If you go with 1x19 cable, I'd recommend purchasing a [larger cutters](https://www.cablebullet.com/products/wire-rope-cable-cutter) than the pair that comes with the install kit. The 1x19 is more rigid, so it's more difficult to cut. Hope that's helpful! Feel free to give us a call if you have any follow-up questions. We're happy to help!
