Tensioners are still needed every 20 feet along your run to maintain proper cable tension.

Some common scenarios for using Signature Series Deluxe Post Hole Covers include:
- On a the post at the top of a short set of stairs
- On a corner post on a small deck or landing
- Under a 45º handrail corner where the 2 adjacent tensioning posts are less than 20 feet apart
- As a stylistic preference to replace 1/4” Line Posts with 2” 2-Way Posts

Do Signature Series Deluxe Post Hole Covers work on stairs?

Signature Series Deluxe Post Hole Covers can be used on a corner or 2-way post at the top of a short set of stairs as long as the adjacent tensioning posts are less than 20 feet apart.

Signature Series Deluxe Post Hole covers cannot be used on a pass-through post in the middle of a stair run. Instead, use a Stair Run Line Post for this application.

From the outside, Signature SeriesDeluxe Post Hole Covers very closely resemble the look of Cable Tensioners for Metal Posts, however, Post Hole Covers do not have any tensioning technology inside.

Cable tensioners function as an anchor to hold the end of a cable line as well as provide tension. Post Hole Covers simply allow the cable to pass through the post.

Can I add Signature Series Deluxe Post Hole Covers after I’ve finished my installation?

No, Post Hole Covers need to be installed before running your cables through the posts. Please refer to your installation instructions to accurately assemble your components in the correct order.

Do I need Signature Series Deluxe Post Hole Covers on both sides of my post?

Because these are installed on pass-through posts (cable exiting each side—specifically corner and 2-way posts), you will need to install Deluxe Post Hole Covers on both sides of the post.

A 22-pack of Deluxe Post Hole Covers will fill the 11 holes on either side of a 36” post.
A 26-pack will fill the 13 holes on either side of a 42” post.

How many Signature Series Deluxe Post Hole Covers will I need?

You’ll need one cover per cable pass-through location on each side of the post. For example, if you are using 36” posts, which have 11 cable runs, you will need 22 Deluxe Post Hole Covers per pass-through post—one for each side of each pass-through hole.

A 22-pack of Deluxe Post Hole Covers contains enough fittings for a single 36” pass-through post.
A 26-pack contains enough fittings for a single 42” pass-through post.
