Hardwoods come from specific types of trees, not just from their appearance or properties. Generally, hardwoods have distinct, heavy grains, tend to be darker, are more resistant to scratches, and are denser, making them heavier than softwoods. Common hardwoods include Black Walnut, Hickory, Oak, Maple, Teak, Zebrawood, Ipe, Wenge, Poplar, Rosewood, Meranti, and Sapele.

is that a standard pitch thread ? Can I use a 9/16 tap ?: Hi Peter - we haven't tested other taps besides our own, but you're welcome to try your own 9/16" tap for the Bullets going into hardwood. Our tap is custom-designed to match the threading on the Bullet tensioners.
