Reviews

Good but not great.

"The guide is a fantastic tool for spacing the cables. The adjustability to the post width is a great feature. The only issue I have is using it for post sleeve installation. The guide holes are not the right size for the larger hole required in the post sleeve. Would like to see a version specifically for post sleeve installation."

A product I can stand behind

"I installed a lift on my deck and built rails around it on the deck level. . I installed my cable railing in the span of two days. The drill guide deifinitely came in handy. I did not have to measure every single spot where I needed to drill a hole. It was very easy and all of the CAble bullet products are very well designed and excellent quality in manufacturing. Worth every penny."

Drill guide and tempate

"The drill guide/template is an absolute must for the cable bullet system on level runs. The drills fit perfectly and the holes are perfectly aligned very quickly. Makes quick work of drilling into wood posts."

NOT worth using. I did

"NOT worth using. I did NOT use, and am returning it. I looked at the design, then read the instructions, and said WTF. Built a template on my own out of scrap 2x4."

James N. (5/5)

Convenient tool to mark holes

"Convenient tool to mark holes to drill. I purchased all the necessary tools to install the cable bullet system. My customer was very happy with the final result. Highly recommended system."

Drill holes like a pro

"I initially thought I'd make my own jig for the holes. Glad I decided to get this instead. Having both the tensioner and pass through holes was a bonus. The pass through holes drilled with no issues. I did have some issues with the tensioner holes. First, unless you stay perfectly level, the bit can jam in the jig. Second, I had an issue with the jig slipping, getting the hold off. Stopped this by drilling the top and bottom hold first and putting a down in to stop the jig from moving."

Q&A

my existing wood posts are 5' apart. should i place tensioning bolts at each post or pass through and tension at every other one or something?
Hi Sean! Great question! Here are our spacing recommendations: Tensioners should be placed every 20 feet. That means that if your posts are spaced every 5 feet, you can pass through 3 posts before needing to use more tensioners. We also recommend that you cable be supported every 42 inches to prevent cable deflection. This has significant code implications, and in your case, we would recommend using Spacer Bars mid span on each of your 5-foot spaces. If you would rather, our support team would be happy to put together a custom project layout and build your cart for you for free! Just fill out an estimate!
Is a douglass fir post considered hardwood; i.e. I need to thread the post or can I treat it like other soft woods?
Hi Lewis! Despite it's strength, douglas fir is classified as a softwood and should not be pre-tapped before installing your tensioners. Treat it the same way that you would any other softwood.
