Hidden Hardware to Maximize Your View:

  • DIY-friendly installation
  • Use your existing posts to save money
  • Crafted from anodized aluminum with a jet-black finish
  • Concealed, patented hardware to maximize your view
  • Effortless tensioning with only (1) set screw
  • Designed for 5/32” cable

  • Available in packs of 20 or single tensioner kits.

A note about black finishes and colorfastness: We use an architectural hardcoat anodized finish on our tensioners and post tops. That anodized finish has been tested to the equivalent of 8 years of UV exposure with excellent color fastness to maintain its appearance. Pairing black anodized tensioners with black oxide stainless steel cable is a popular choice for achieving a darker, more understated look, but it’s important to understand the limitations of black oxide. We permit black oxide cable for outdoor use, but we do not recommend it for coastal or high‑salt environments. The black oxide finish will naturally fade with UV exposure, and while occasional oiling can help slow that process, it is not designed to offer the same long‑term color stability as a coated or anodized finish. With cable, this aging is generally acceptable, the natural texture and depth of the strands allow it to continue looking good even as the black softens.

The product looks great. The

"The product looks great. The set screws for the tensioners can strip easily, so you have to be really careful with the driver torque. I feel that the rail post hole covers are not great value. At approximately $2. 50 each for these plastic covers, it cost $70 for each intermediate post. I wish I had just used some black stainless washers and glued them to the post instead for $0. 10 each."

Looks Great!

"Excellent Product. Easy to install. We ran our cables horizontally. The template was helpful for the 3" vertical spacing, but it was useless for the locating the hole in the center of the posts. Our posts were nominal 4" x 4", but actually were 3 5/8" by 3 5'8". If the slots in the plexiglass were a little bit longer and overlapped, the template would have found the center of the post. This was a real issue on the through holes. Other than that, everything worked well."

Easy Install - Quality Tensioners - Nice Look

"Overall the install went very well and it looks good. The cable bullets are a nice clean look. Here are a couple things you might consider: 1) The 9/16 brad point bit is junk. I chucked it in a drill press to bore holes in a template I was making and the centering spur moved all over the place while running - like nearly 1/8" of runout. And did a pretty poor boring job in my DF posts as well. Considering the quality and price of the cable bullet tensioners I think you should be selling a quality bit even if it was twice the price. I have quite a few brad point bits that I use for woodworking and your bit does not come close in quality. 2) I used Standard, XL, and XXL tensioners but unfortunately the XXL were not available in black. Why not? The whole rest of my install is black (other tensioners, rail system, and cable) and the XXL's stand out - and not in a good way."

Interior staircase

"Easy to install. Only challenge/frustrating part was on incline of staircase. Angle made tightening cable more challenging. The cable covered spot for Allen wrench limiting ability to tighten. Only solution was to cut, re-crimp and re-install. Once re-crimped cable was too short."

Q&A

How long can a run of Cable be?
Hi Don! With the Cable Bullet system, you can run cable up to 20 feet between tensioners to maintain the proper cable tension. Keep in mind that you will need to support your cables intermittently along that 20 feet to keep them from sagging. Here are our typical recommendations: - Tensioners every 20 feet - Handrail support every 7 feet (usually line or pass-through posts) - Cable support every 3.5 feet (this can be either line/pass-through posts or our Cable Spacer Bars).
