Reviews

Railing looks really nice

"We have installed Cable Bullet outside on our deck as well as inside in our upstairs loft. The railings look really good. What I really like about cable bullet that is different than other similar products is that the space between posts can be greater which means that there is less bulk to see when looking though the railing. Overall it was not too hard for a DIYer. Cable bullet could improve their instructions to include the where the handrails should be cut, we were trying to maximize using the material and ended up having to buy another spline because we used a left over cut piece when base on the material purchased we didn't need to, the instructions don't have that detail. The hardest part by far was trying to install the set screws in the bottom of the handrails at the splines, the bit that we bought from CB snapped off in the hand railing so we had to buy another and still it was really hard to drill and tap into the aluminum hand rail."

A Great Engineered Product

"The posts were easy to set. Then the metal railing was a bit more challenging as I did it all by myself. I had 66 runs of cable. I would increase the diameter of the set screws to 1/4 20. Those little #10 24 are too small. Anyway, it took about 50 hours to do a 40’x20’ deck with an eleven step entrance."

— Jay A. (5/5)

Very Good Quality

"The quality of the materials is excellent. This isn't cheap thin aluminum. It's beefy. Looks to be 1/8th thick. My installation was on an old deck that I was redoing with new PVC decking and PVC skirt boards. So, as expected, I had to shim each bracket level and plumb. I used black PVC shims so it's almost impossible to see them with the black bracket. It was a bit time consuming, but easy if you do this type of work. As a licensed home improvement contractor, it's straight forward work. But, as a DIY product, unless the home owner is well versed in basic construction techniques, and has all the proper tools, it might be beyond their ability. But certainly not impossible if they take their time, and study the installation instructions."

RADKE Property Kaneohe, Hawaii

"I installed about 200 feet of cable rail around a wrap-around deck at my house. Since I was on my own, the process took a little longer but I managed to develop a system to do one entire section from start to finish which was helpful in seeing how everything came together."

— Mo R. (5/5)

Deck railing revierw

"The quality is positively outstanding and the appearance is as good as the quality."

— Mark B. (5/5)

Great customer service and design

"Great customer service and design assistance. Extremely well made, heavy gauge materials and excellent finishes. I highly recommend Cable Bullet. A bit more money than the competition but well, well worth it. Gary Novasel Wilton, CT"

— Gary N. (5/5)

A pleasure to install

"Didn't know what to expect when I began installing CB on my new deck. Very straightforward, easy to understand instructions, almost as easy as putting together Ikea furniture. Only parts that in my opinion could use more elaboration, or a video, are assembling the railings around corners when you have weildly long pieces that have to be spliced together when mounted. The day I had to do the longest piece I didn't have anyone around to assist, so decided to fasten the splices after mounting. Tapping the holes from underneath was difficult, and I had a hard time getting a set screw into one of them. I'll be emailing Nick and Josiah the photos of my finished installation."

— Joseph T. (5/5)

Very please on all sprectums

"Very please on all sprectums from this firm"

— Charles H. (5/5)

4 stars

"The middle posts should be as large as the corner “squares”. It was a thin metal “strip”. Other then that, all good."

— Chace G. (4/5)

Great railing

"Sturdy and high quality railing! Easy to assemble and looks great."

— Megan M. (5/5)

Q&A

How long are the screws for a side post into the decking?
Hi Wendy! The Post Mounting Screws included with all of our posts are 4-1/2" long.
Any concerns using this intermediate post to run cable around a 45 degree corner?
Hi Erik - great question! If the railing section with the 45-degree turn is 16-18', then you should still be able to tension your cables enough to reach 150# of tension. If your section is longer than that, you may want to consider using 2 [tensioning end posts](https://www.cablebullet.com/collections/signature-series-side-mount-posts/products/signature-series-side-mount-tensioning-post) in order to get the proper cable tension. Hope that answers your question! If you have any additional concerns about your project, please feel free to leave a comment or send us an email.
I see the cable tensioning posts can be 20 ft apart. What is maximum spacing for the intermediate posts?
Great question, Steve! We recommend placing intermediate posts every 5'-7' with a [spacer bar](https://www.cablebullet.com/products/cable-bullet-cable-spacer-bar) in between for cable support. If your intermediate post spacing is 7'-8', you might consider using fixed spacer bars instead (these attach to the underside of your handrail). If you have any follow-up questions about your specific layout, please free free to fill out an [estimate request](https://www.cablebullet.com/pages/estimates) for a free, no-obligation materials list and project layout recommendations.
is a intermediate post the same but thiner than a pass through post?
Hi Clay! Yes, the Signature series intermediates are pass-through posts that provide structural support. They have a slim profile for minimal obstruction and for 5/32" cable to pass through seamlessly. They pair great with [Signature series tensioning posts](https://www.cablebullet.com/products/signature-series-side-mount-tensioning-post) or with wood/sleeved posts.
