Signature Series Posts are pre-tapped for our tensioners, whereas Summit Series rails have the tensioning technology integrated directly into it.

Are Post Leveling Plates included with my posts?

No, Post Leveling Plates are an optional component, so you will need to purchase them separately.

What post options are available for stairs?

Note: a standard tensioning post refers to a non-stair post.

Option 1: Standard tensioning post with a Stair Transition Hinge or a Stair Corner Hinge at the top to Bottom of Stair Post at the bottom

How can I request a custom stair post configuration?

Can I use a Bottom of Stair Post with a handrail hinge?

No. Stair posts are designed to replace the need for a hinge. If you prefer using a hinge at the top and bottom, stick with standard terminal posts instead.

How is a stair post different from a standard post?

Top and Bottom Stair Posts feature a pivoting top, so you don’t need a hinge. The Bottom Stair Post also has tensioning holes shifted up 1" to help cables clear stair nosing and meet code.

Do I have to use a stair post on my stairs?

Nope. Rather than using our top and bottom stair posts which include a pivoting head, you can use a handrail hinge with an end, 2-way, or corner post to transition from level to stair run. While they’re optional, a bottom stair post might allow for more flexibility when positioning your posts and helps to keep you code compliant.
